Bales Bio:
Barbara began her career in the 80's in the sales and promotion
departments of Sony Music throughout which time, she attended a
lifetime's worth of listening parties and concerts... and is thankful
that she can still hear pretty well! She learned the inner workings
of the music industry from the best executives in the business.
In 1990 Barbara decided to leave Sony to pursue a few other goals,
like doing voiceover work as well as freelance writing. She hooked
up with a New York City publication called Street News, and for
years, contributed articles and interviews. By the Mid-Nineties,
a new industry magazine emerged quickly becoming popular with guitar
players and music fans alike: Guitar 2001.
Barbara joined the staff a few years after its inception. In 1998,
while writing for Guitar 2001, she submitted her first interview
to the nationally distributed publication, The Inside
Connection... and now seven years and many interviews
and reviews later is still a contributor to that magazine.
Her interviews reach talent from the Long Island and Metro areas
as well as from around the country. She is also affiliated with
a local indie record company, where she acts as a liaison between
unsigned artists and the label.
